The exquisite Heritage Hotel Rockhampton is a hotel with a rich history. It is set in a stately building that combines the best of two architectural eras. It nicely combines the old Federation-era architecture and vibe with a decidedly modernized look. Described best as chic and stunning, the hotel is one of a kind in its atmosphere and architecture.
The hotel was founded in 1898 and if location means everything, then you cannot beat the Heritage. Positioned on prime property in the CBD with absolute river views with sweeping views both north and south of the river which can be viewed on all three levels and especially on the premier balconies on the second and third levels.
The Heritage was built as a sister hotel to the famous Brisbane Regatta’s hotel and in terms of standards it has had a multi-million refurb to finish with a result that is a perfect blend of the nostalgic past and the modern décor.
I am a proud country lad who has been lucky enough to captain my country in my sport of Touch Footy and along the way have been able to do a number of business projects to give me good knowledge in a lot of areas. From property development both commercial and residential and investments to owning my apparel label Inferno that is in over 20 countries worldwide and the latest project being forming the non-profit sports club Rocky Sports Club which now has over 130 associated events, clubs, and associations and is currently looking to build a 23 million facility to help facilitate events and carnivals to further drive the local economy.
The number of friends that over time have said If you ever do a project and need a partner, let me know, and when the Heritage Hotel became available through a friend I thought this could be a project where this could work. Sought out advice from friends and business people I trust and bang The Heritage People Concept was born.
Really wanted firstly good people involved and a couple of living legends to jump in as well. Over the page you will see who has jumped in and if you aren’t excited by them then this probably isn’t the project for you. If you love a beverage, laugh and the chance to connect with good people who look at this as a capital investment and also quietly love the idea of owning a pub then this is for you.
With not that many bricks available and some major partners jumping on board I see this been sold out sooner rather than later so don’t miss your opportunity to be part of the people’s pub.
Read on to see living legends, what you get and our plans to turn the iconic heritage into the place to be.
Look forward to seeing you all at The People’s Pub.
Born and bred in Townsville, Gorden Tallis migrated south to St George in 1992 and made his first State of Origin appearance in 1994. A Queenslander through and through, Tallis sat out the last year of his contract with St George to play for the Broncos. Big, fast and feisty, he became the dominant player in the Brisbane pack. The enforcer would be his role until he retired. In all, he played 54 games for St George and 158 for Brisbane, and appeared in 17 State of Origin games and three Tri-series games during Super League. He also appeared in eight Tests, plus three Super League Tests. He captained Brisbane and Australia, and won the Clive Churchill medal as best-and-fairest in the 1998 grand final.
"I anticipate with excitement meeting individuals who enjoy a good drink, laughter, and the opportunity to engage with a community that views this as an investment, while also quietly cherishing the notion of owning a pub. The excitement stems from the opportunities for networking, forming friendships, and the potential for long-term capital growth along the journey."
Nick Gregorski is a fifth generation publican and who some would describe as a 'roustabout', with a love for good beer, good beef, good wine and good company. Gregorski grew up in the family hotel The Grand View in Bowen, North Queensland, and, after chasing his Rugby Union dreams , went on to make his own mark in the hotel trade with The Alliance, and then the Port Office in Brisbane. Nick now owns several hospitality businesses including the Royal Hotel in Townsville. A former Australian 7s rugby player, Nick is still involved with the Classic Wallabies and his favourite tours include Beef Week in Rocky.
“I love pubs and especially classic Queensland pubs, you can’t get any more classic than the Heritage. I first fell in love with the pub about ten years ago when visiting Rockhampton for a mates wedding and flew up to have a proper look at it a week later. Unfortunately, the timing wasn’t right and this recent opportunity was too good to be true. I have had plenty of beers in it since but can’t wait to enjoy a cold one and a steak in the Peoples Pub. How many have bought a share in a racehorse for the same money and never had enjoyment, we get to enjoy every moment of being an owner.”
Born and raised in Rockhampton, Mark Knowles has done everything in the world of hockey after starting his career at the Kalka Shades fields in Rockhampton. In addition to his achievements, such as the 2004 Olympic gold medal at the Athens Olympics and being the flag bearer at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, Knowles was honored by being named the 2014 World Player of the Year by the International Hockey Federation in 2015. He has been the Kookaburras captain since 2014 and is currently serving as the Deputy Chef de Mission for Team Australia at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
“I am extremely proud of being a Rocky and Central Queenslander and when the concept of the Peoples Pub was floated to me I had no hesitation to become involved. I have always wanted to get involved in a project in my home town and this will be fantastic on a number of levels. To bring locals together to own a little bit of a pub is a dream that most people in their lifetime would never get a chance. To be involved is something that I look forward to. From networking, friendship and the chance to get some long term capital growth along the way it is just exciting and I look forward to catching up with everyone who is lucky enough to be involved.”
An Australian international and Queensland State of Origin representative, he played club football for the Wests Tigers (whom he led to the 2005 premiership, winning the Clive Churchill Medal), the Gold Coast Titans, Brisbane Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys. In mid-November 2022 the Brisbane Broncos announced the appointment of Prince as head coach of their NRLW team for the 2023 season.
“I am a country kid at heart and the chance to get involved in such an exciting concept as The Heritage People's Pub is something that I am looking forward to being involved with. Having a drink or two and chatting to fellow brickholders community is going to be great and can't wait to see the project come to life.”
